A Fresh Forecast: Forecast Coffee Opens in East Vancouver

EveryAna is excited to share a new favourite on the city’s café radar — Forecast Coffee, the Whistler-born café brand, is opening its second Vancouver location on East Hastings Street, right in the heart of East Vancouver.
This new spot is located at 2703 E Hastings St, in the 388 Slocan development. It takes over the space formerly known as The Slocan restaurant, which closed its doors in 2021. With a community-friendly layout, licensed seating, and all-day eats, the café promises to be a new hangout for locals.
From Whistler to East Van
Forecast Coffee first opened in Whistler, serving mountain adventurers with warm coffee and fresh food. They brought the same spirit to Vancouver in 2021 with their first city café on Main Street. Known for its cozy vibes and hearty menu, it quickly gained popularity among locals.
Now, their new East Hastings café brings that blend of small-town charm and city style to the East Village neighbourhood — a rising cultural spot in Vancouver filled with art studios, indie stores, and street murals.
What to Expect
At Forecast’s cafés, quality and comfort go hand in hand. Here’s what visitors can expect:
- All-day food menu: Think breakfast burritos, avocado toast, croissants, soup, and hearty sandwiches like their Crispy Chicken Burger.
- Specialty coffee: Forecast focuses on single-origin beans and expert baristas. Great coffee, no fuss.
- Chill vibes: Both spots are designed for relaxing, catching up, or working with a latte in hand.
- Open early and late: Main Street hours are 7 AM–8 PM (until 10 PM on weekends), and the new spot is expected to offer something similar.
Why East Van Loves Forecast
Forecast Coffee fits right in with East Vancouver’s growing list of creative cafés. Just down the street, you’ll find spots like:
- Prototype Coffee – Known for its cutting-edge pour-over setup and changing coffee lineup.
- The East Café – A laid-back gem famous for its lemon loaf and warm service.
- Platform 7 Coffee – A train station–themed café with fresh pastries and top-notch espresso.
Each brings something unique, but Forecast Coffee blends Whistler’s outdoorsy charm with Vancouver’s urban feel — a combo that resonates with both locals and visitors.
