Heads Up, Vancouver: Huge Military Plane to Fly Low Over the City This Week

If you hear a powerful roar over North Vancouver on Wednesday morning, don’t be alarmed—it’s a special military flyby by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). The event will feature a CP-140 Aurora flyby, which is going to be epic to witness.

What’s Happening?

On Wednesday, July 2 at approximately 9:50 a.m., a huge CP-140 Aurora aircraft will fly low over Burrard Dry Dock Pier in North Vancouver. The flyby is a salute to the HMCS Vancouver, a Canadian naval ship receiving official recognition for its service in Libya during Operation Mobile in 2011.

This ceremony marks the ship’s Battle Honour “LIBYA”, which acknowledges its role in enforcing a no-fly zone and protecting civilians during the conflict.
