A Moving Tribute That Brings Culture to the Streets

Vancouver, April 2025 — TransLink has unveiled its latest rolling artwork: a vibrant mobile tribute to Sikh heritage. Covered in bright orange and blue artwork, the Vaisakhi-themed bus travels across Metro Vancouver’s busiest transit routes, sparking celebration and conversation. TransLink’s Vaisakhi Bus 2025 is set to become a beloved symbol of cultural celebration.

A Cultural Celebration on Wheels

This special bus is more than a mode of transportation—it’s a celebration of Sikh identity, history, and the spring harvest season. Designed by local artist Jag Nagra, the wrap was inspired by Rumala Sahibs, the embroidered cloths that cover Sikh scriptures.

Decorated with Punjabi motifs, floral designs, and vibrant traditional colors, the bus expresses cultural symbolism and artistic pride. More importantly, it honors Vaisakhi’s deeper meaning—both the harvest celebration and the founding of the Khalsa in 1699.

Highlighting Inclusion: Where to See TransLink’s Vaisakhi Bus 2025

This year, the Vaisakhi Bus will appear at two major community parades:

• April 13: Vancouver Vaisakhi Parade featuring TransLink’s Vaisakhi Bus 2025.
• April 20: Surrey Khalsa Day Vaisakhi Parade (view parade info)

Outside of these events, it will travel on the R4 41st Ave and R6 Scott Road RapidBus routes. That means thousands of daily riders will encounter Sikh culture in a unique and personal way.

“I wanted Sikh kids to feel proud when they saw the bus go by,” said Nagra. “And for non-Sikhs to want to learn more.”
