Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Recalled Salami Products: What You Need to Know

A recent salmonella outbreak has traced back to certain salami products sold in Ontario and Alberta, Canada. The outbreak has led to multiple hospitalizations and a nationwide recall. Here’s what consumers should be aware of regarding the current salmonella outbreak.

What Happened?

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recalled specific salami products after tests confirmed salmonella contamination, contributing to the salmonella outbreak. The affected products include:

  • Rea brand Genoa Salami
  • Bona brand Genova Salami

Stores in Ontario and Alberta sold these products, which may have been purchased without coded packaging. Consumers should check their refrigerators as the salmonella outbreak continues, confirm the product with the place of purchase, or dispose of it if it matches the recall details.
