Celebrating 25 Years: Downtown Surrey Fest Kicks Off the Summer!
Summer officially arrives in Surrey on Saturday, June 21, 2025, as the much-loved Downtown Surrey Fest—now in its 25th year—returns to bring community spirit, food, fun, and free entertainment to Central City Plaza at 13450 102 Ave.
What’s the Fest All About?
Since its beginnings in 1999 as the Whalley Community Festival, the event has grown into a vibrant, free outdoor celebration that now draws over 4,000 people each year. The Downtown Surrey Fest, organized by the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association (BIA), offers:
- Live music & cultural performances on the main stage—including Chris Hamilton, Sun Hang Do martial arts, and Cookin’ with Brass.
- A dedicated Kid’s Zone with bouncy castles, face painting, games, popcorn, and candy floss.
- Appearances from beloved local organizations like the BC SPCA, DIVERSEcity, and Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society.
This is more than just a festival—it’s a celebration of Surrey’s community values, diversity, and shared joy.

No car? No problem. The event is held right next to Surrey Central SkyTrain Station, making it super easy to access via public transit. Limited parking is available nearby, but attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle, or take public transit when possible, especially during the Downtown Surrey Fest.
