Celebrating Canada Day 2025 in Port Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities

Canada Day in Port Coquitlam is more than just a holiday—it’s a full-day festival of fun, music, food, and fireworks. As Canada Day 2025 approaches, here’s your go-to guide to enjoy this vibrant event, whether you’re a local or a visitor.

Morning Kick-off: Pancakes + Fishing Derby

Start your day at Lions Park from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the free kids’ fishing derby—open to all children under 10, no registration needed.

Right next to the action, you can enjoy a hearty pancake breakfast at Mabbett Hall, inside the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave), served from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. for just $5 cash.

Midday Magic: Castle Park Festival

From 12:00 p.m. until dusk, Castle Park becomes a festival ground packed with excitement:

  • Live music: From indie acts to major names like Trooper and Aaron Pritchett, there’s music for every taste. Local bands like Whiskey Blind and The Way Cool Band will also hit the stage.
  • Family Fun Zone: With carnival games, face painting, arts & crafts, inflatable rides, and even a spray park, there’s endless entertainment for the little ones.
  • Food and Market: Explore local food trucks and a licensed beer garden (cash & card accepted), plus browse through a collection of artisan vendors.

Getting There & Traffic Notices

Getting to the park is easy thanks to the free shuttle service running from 1:00 p.m. to midnight from nearby schools.

Note: Some road closures will be in effect, including Mary Hill Overpass, Citadel Drive, and nearby Castle Crescent between 6:00 a.m. and midnight. Full road closure details are available on the City of Port Coquitlam’s official site.

Fireworks Spectacular

The highlight of the evening? A jaw-dropping fireworks display at dusk that’s timed to music and lights up the entire sky over Castle Park. You won’t want to miss this.

With over 20,000 attendees expected, we recommend arriving early to grab your spot on the grass.

More Canada Day Fun Across the Tri-Cities

Nearby cities also host their own fun-packed events:

  • Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park will host a multicultural celebration with fireworks, dancing, and international food stalls.
  • In Port Moody, head over to Rocky Point Park for live music and oceanfront food trucks—check their updates on the City of Port Moody site.

Why It Matters

According to Ron McKinnon, Canada Day offers an opportunity to reflect on what unites us—from Indigenous history to the multicultural spirit of the present.

“It’s not just a birthday—it’s a celebration of our shared values.”
